Yılmaz Bayraktar, was born in Ardahan in 1954. He received his B.Sc. ChE degree from the Chemical Engineering Department at Boğaziçi University in 1976 and completed a thesis on ‘Design and Management for Industry’ from the Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Wales in United Kingdom and received his M.Sc.ME degree in 1978.
He began his career at Tüpraş İzmit Refinery and as an Energy and Ecology Engineer in 1979 and left the company as Deputy Refinery Manager in 1999.
He started with Siemens Power Generation (Orlando, FL) in 1999 as the Plant Manager for Bosen Power Plant until 2006 when he was promoted as Deputy General Manager following the privatization of Tüpraş, Turkish Petroleum Refineries Inc., the largest industrial enterprise in Turkey.
Bayraktar was a board member of Kocaeli Chamber of Industry and Koç Group Companies Pension Foundation and Tüpraş Ethic Comity. Bayraktar was a board member of KalDer, Turkish Quality Foundation between 2010-2016, President in 2016 and currently Vice President. Bayraktar currently works as instructor at Bosphorus University Chemical Engineering Department and as the Chairman of the Board at KalDer.
